Sixty years ago, it would have been impossible to imagine that Aldersgate (then The Methodist Home) would transform into the leading continuing care retirement community that it is today.

Founded in 1948, Aldersgate sits on 227 lush acres of majestic magnolia and pecan trees.  The colonial-style architecture lends itself to an unmistakable air of gentility, fostered by a private lake stocked with bass, a three-hole, par three golf course, a five acre azalea garden and shady walking paths that wind throughout it all.

At the front of our campus sits our new expansion project, the Wesley Glen cottage community.  Once completed, it will contain fifty personalized homes ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 square feet.  Each home offers spacious floor plans and gracious southern-style living.

At the heart of our community is the Ray Hall Community Center, whose architecture calls to mind a grand country home.  Inside, you'll find a fellowship hall and sanctuary, bank, library, general store, and a spacious great room with an oversized fireplace and veranda.  The Community Center also features a wellness facility with an exercise room and indoor heated swimming pool.

Along the connecting corridor between the Community Center and the eight-story Epworth Place tower is our "main street" - a series of storefronts for the arts center, which includes painting, sewing, weaving, ceramics, woodworking, club room, and more.

For seniors seeking an independent lifestyle, Aldersgate offers several options.  Besides Epworth Place, which offers studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartment living, our residents can select the Francis Residential Building, which houses 74 one- and two-bedroom apartments.  Connected to the Community Center through a central corridor, it provides spacious floor plans, many with built-in bookshelves and attractive views from shaded balconies.

Or, if you prefer a little more space, cottages are available in the Azalea View, Lake Ridge and Wesley Glen cottage communities.  Azalea View, inspired by the five-acre azalea garden which the community borders, offers two- and three-bedroom individualized homes.  Lake Ridge cottages, which border our private lake, offer two bedroom homes ranging from 1,598 to 1,867 square feet.  Wesley Glen, still under construction, offers residents a personalized retreat in homes ranging from 1,548 to 2,035 square feet. 

For seniors with dementia or memory loss, Aldersgate is at the forefront of care with innovative programs that bring residents closer to the world around them.  Cuthbertson Village, our memory support assisted living center, is an award-winning, state-of-the-art assisted living facility that strives to help create a better quality of daily life in the physical, social and emotional environment of those served.

And if you need it, nursing care is available at Parker Terrace Assisted Living Center or Asbury Care Center, our skilled nursing center.
